Remodeling Michigan Since 1972

HOW WE STARTED

John (Jack) and Johane Bongero founded Bongero Construction Co. in 1972 and worked out of their home in Livonia. Jack was a licensed builder, whose main focus was primarily on rough and finish carpentry. He eventually expanded his services to include general contracting in the residential field. Johane took care of payroll and bookkeeping, while raising seven children. Eventually they moved the business out of the home and maintained an office in Redford until 2001, where they moved the business to its current location, on Glendale Street in Livonia. Jack remained active in the business, until his semi-retirement in 1998. Jack passed away in February, 2014 and his legacy lives on with his two sons, David and Gary.

DAVID ANTHONY BONGERO - OWNER & PRESIDENT - CHIEF ESTIMATOR

Dave is the 2nd youngest of 7 children, who grew up in the family business. He started working full time after graduating from Bishop Borgess High School in 1983. Dave worked as a rough and finish carpenter, while attending night school at the Detroit College of Business and then the University of Michigan Dearborn. Starting in 1992, Dave left the field area of the business and became the salesman for the business full time. He became a licensed builder in 1996, working side by side with his father. As the business continued to grow and his father was slowing down, his brother Gary joined him in a partnership that continues today. Dave is married with three children and lives in Livonia. He is currently the active building commissioner for the city of Livonia Building Board Code of Appeals.

GARY ANDREW BONGERO - OWNER & VICE PRESIDENT - FIELD OPERATIONS

Gary is the youngest of the Bongero clan, who also grew up in the family business. Gary graduated from Stevenson High School in 1988 and began working full time as a rough carpenter. In 1996, Gary left the field to join Dave in forming a new partnership to carry the company forward. Gary expanded the business duties to include foundation and grade work, allowing the company to be more “full service” and less dependent on subcontractors. He currently manages the field staff and works directly with our clients.
